Drawing and Print

Class of 2018

Sophie Holliday

My work is a celebration of femininity and the female experience with nature being a key element of my inspiration. Flowers have typically been associated with women for their decorative qualities, but I challenge this by using them to highlight the qualities of strength and resilience that women share with nature. My work addresses issues such as the portrayal of women by the media, censorship of the female body and the experience of being female. My magazine series questions the exploitation of women in the media and the hypocritical attitude of society today through both exposing and censoring the female form.
