Hannah Coton’s work primarily fixates on the interaction of shapes, how they play with negative space and how this can create a new form. Training in the medium of screen print, she has been pushing boundaries both with the process and her designs.
The forms that appear in her work are often free-flowing and come from a subconscious space. Her prints and paintings inform each other; reacting with organic mark making in both processes concluding in a polished outcome.
Colour is also a primary focus in Hannah’s work, she regularly dips in and out of bright to muted colour palettes, each one carefully chosen for the particular image it resides in.
