Drawing and Print

Class of 2018

Charlotte June Godbold

CJ is an abstract painter who takes inspiration from the natural world. In June 2017 she traveled to Kökar, Åland where the bold contrasts between colourful scandinavian houses and the seemingly bleak grey landscape peaked her attention. Contrasts have begun to take center stage in her works, natural colours alongside high key colours, matte and gloss and textured elements alongside smooth surfaces. Plastic or plastic like materials and mediums are used to suffocate images inspired by nature, abstracting the subject matter almost entirely.

This contemporary artist isn’t just a painter but also works in drawing, print, collage and sculpture, each of the disciplines informing each other. Recently different processes have started to come together on single pieces, hinting towards a future of bold and unexpected works.
